Strung is now published!

Yay! I made it!

Some of the rabbit holes I fell (deeper) into during this journey:

Audio games: The very concept fascinates me as a sound designer. It's like using the craft to its maximum potential. I really need to learn more about positional game audio stuff, like ambisonics or HRTF. It seems how to do navigation is a big topic in the audio game community and I'd like to explore more. I sorta cheaped out for this jam, just doing a stationary puzzle thing.

Microtonal music: Ahhh the sweet 7th harmonic... I'd like to thank Adam Neely and Sevish for opening my ears to this cool new world. Also listed in the credits, but the sound of the Instrument is heavily inspired by the Hyperpiano . Go check it out it's way cooler!

The Godot game engine: I like it and I'm staying. The node-based structure and GDscript just, makes sense to me. I've never done solo dev on other engines, but my experiences with the behemoth they call Unity have been less than pleasant.

Programming: The extent of my programming experience prior to attempting this was scrounging together cmd scripts from StackExchange to batch process videos using FFMPEG. This is like, a major confidence boost. Who knows, I might even get interested in shaders someday???

Writing: Not really relevant to Strung as it is now, but I just really want to try writing more stories. Originally Strung was gonna be about saying farewell to a friend who gives you their instrument, but scripting and implementing that dialogue was way too ambitious. Then it sorta turned into an old and decaying low-intelligence robot wanting to appreciate music before it expired, and that needed too much stuff to make clear and work, so I just went with an A.I. guide/assistant that sounds like Glados. It's also mentioned in the credits but the key personality thing about Assistant is inspired from Data Wing's Mother by Dan Vogt. Spoilers!!!! Mother is this A.I. that really wants to be human and trying really hard to emphasize with human emotion, so I went with an A.I. that has this over-awareness of self but doesn't really understand how to communicate emotion somehow? Kinda like... hmm... At least she's good at her job.

Ahh that's enough rambling. I don't really know why you're here but thank you for reading??
